Attractions

Bonaire is all about relaxing, diving, snorkeling and windsurfing. You can dive or snorkel right in front of your apartment and you will find abundant, fascinating sea life. The entire westerly side of the island offers world class diving and snorkeling. There are also many fantastic diving and snorkeling places around Klein Bonaire island. For more information, check the diving sites map.

Note: to enjoy the water around your apartment, you should be able to swim, or wear some sort of flotation device. Bachelor’s beach (5 minute walk to the north) has a nice sandy entry (see the map).

Windsurfing is on the east side of the island, at  Lac Bay. There are two rental shops and a perfect shallow lagoon which is ideal for learning, freeride and freestyle. The Hang Out Beach Bar is a great place to relax under the sun (or in the shade).  It is one of the best places to spend a day, as the constant breeze helps to survive the day heat.

There are many other activities and interesting sights around Bonaire.  Our guests have recommended the salt pans and GlassBottomTours (both the Glass Bottom Boat and Kayak Snorkel Tours), the Washington Slagbaai National Park  as among the most interesting ones. Flamingoes and other enchanting wildlife are abundant on the island.

The island is relatively unspoiled and very peaceful.  The lack of expansive sandy beaches on Bonaire ensures that the island remains uncrowded.  However, there are a few small sandy beaches and they are mostly on the west side of the island.  As noted earlier,  Bachelor Beach is within walking distance from our condo.   We suggest wearing water shoes for comfortably entering the water, because of occasional coral bottom.
